This workshop is designed to give you dedicated time to work on your pottery skills in an exquisite setting in the Garhwal Himalaya. You will have the opportunity to work on electric wheels and hone your ‘throwing’ skills… and will also have the opportunity to practice hand-building – a genre of pottery/ceramics that has endless possibilities. But what truly sets this workshop apart and will make this a most memorable experience for you, is that you will have the opportunity to participate in an Obvara firing, and as a result of this very exciting firing technique, you will get to come away with your COMPLETED pottery pieces at the end of the workshop!!!

Over the duration of this Workshop, you will learn the basics of Throwing and Hand-Building technique.You will have the opportunity to work hands-on, on a exciting eastern european firing technique called Obvara.

Get hands-on experience of working in clay with one-on-one instruction. You will - Gain an understanding of the entire process of ceramics making - Learn and practice the basics of throwing - Learn hand building techniques - Create 2 to 3 pieces - Explore your creativity by bringing your own unique style to the creation of 4 to 5 decorative pieces - Gather basic knowledge of pottery - Experience the local environ - Camp in the forests of Garhwal

Anyone above the age of 15 Years is welcome to join this workshop. It is ideal for anyone interested in pottery or ceramics or just looking for a therapeutic getaway. Spend time getting to know interesting new people in a beautiful setting while learning something exciting, new and creative. All levels of experience are welcome. This is a perfect setting for those who have not dabbled in clay and have no prior engagement with clay and pottery. A combination of demonstration and one to one instruction will make sure you learn new skills or polish your existing skills.

Trainer Profile

Aparna Choudhrie K An accomplished and talented potter. Aparna completed her course from Tuscany at The La Meridina Ceramic school dabbling in Porcelain and Raku. Back in India she worked along side specialists Monica Garewal and Manish Bhattacharya. Ashok Kumar Self Taught, highly skilled and a excellent teacher. Ashok comes from a Potter's family and has worked with teracota now diversified into working with Clay as well.
