This expedition starts a few miles inside the line of control China, we travel through some of the remotest unseen parts of India traversing the route of this great river, the ultimate test of guts and will power.

Dibrugarh is also known as known as Ti-Phao in Ahomi. Surrounded by sprawling tea estates dating back to the British era this town sits on the banks of the Brahmaputra.
Preferably land in the morning so you have half a day to explore the place , we depart by noon to Pasighat.
Do try the traditionally made rice beer, called Hanz, a unique drink in the region brewed by natural fermentation, and a rare sticky rice called bora is used to give a unique sweet taste.
Post orientation spend time at the local market, explore local food , talk to locals or braid your hair!
Welcome to the land of tea gardens, Dibrugarh. This is the first day of our 13 day adventure. We will spend the first half this day primarily , getting organised, meet and greet other participants and get a feel of the local sights before departing of our first stop over for the day.
We cross into Arunachal which borders Assam to reach Pasighat. It is here the Siang joins the plains .We check in to our accommodation for the day- Expedition orientation followed by tea time.

Dite Dime bridge - is where we stop for lunch. This is a iconic site, all bridges in Arunachal were damaged or destroyed due a massive storm in 2002.
By now your senses and your body are acclimatising to the atmosphere and getting conditioned for the days ahead
.This two day drive along the siang takes us through unseen Adi villages, their settlements, extremely remote valleys , lush green tropical rainforests.
This will be the second day of driving along the Siang river. We reach our destination by evening, a lovely but basic rest house nestled atop a village in the Siang valley awaits our tired bodies and curious souls

We have reached our first camping spot near the Ningguing village. We camp just beside the Ningguing rapid.
Purung lies in the upper siang taluk of Arunachal. As we drive further in to the valley passing the village of Ramsing we try and get a glimpse of the rapids , locally referred as Moing Madness, Hairy Hari.
A few more passes and bends we descend to Pango and climb up to Ningguing village that descends to our camp at Purung. Camp next to the Ningguing rapid.

Tuting is a small Panchayat town at a distance of 270 kilometres north of Ying Yong in Upper Siang . Tuting is populated by Adi Tribe who are the indigenous inhabitants but small population of other neighbouring tribes like Memba and Khamba are also settled in this town nowadays.
Heres some theoretical gyan on rapids, a refresher:
Rapids are graded on scale of I to VI, with Class I representing a calm, smooth river and Classes V and VI indicating extremely dangerous rapids with difficult rescue conditions.
This is a relaxed day, we sort our gear – walk around and interface with local tribes at the nearby Jedu village, time permitting.
Ready rafts in the afternoon – a comprehensive safety briefing followed by instruction on paddling commands , rescue procedures, basics of rafting, kayaking.

It is our first day of rafting. This route takes you through some bold class v and class 4+ rapids.
We set up campfire and camp on the beautiful Pango beach for the night.
We raft to Pango (5 hrs).
This morning, we set off on our journey down the river. We encounter the big monster Class V Ningguing rapid and another Class 4+ rapid, Pulsating Palsi to reach Pango,where we set up Camp for the night. Lovely float sections as one takes in the wonders of the Ningguing gorge.

Witness the beautiful and remote jungle gorges in the world only accessible by a raft.
Today, we enter the Marmong gorge, the only way to visit this gorge is by raft.
We scout and raft down the Pango rapid and run three big rapids in the gorge, and our paddling skills are well utilized on this day. It has steep impenetrable forests rising into oblivion on each side past the big rapid at Rikor and Zebra Rock rapid to set up Camp above a Class 6 rapid “Tooth fairy” at Cherring.

We camp at Paradise beach at Ramsing Village for the night.
After a possible portage around the Class six rapid, Toothfairy, we raft out of the Marmong gorge negotiating several Class 3+ rapids including the Class 4 Hairy Hari, followed by a float till Ramsing where we make Camp for the night.

We camp at the Paradise beach camp. Rest up or hike up near by trails or just fool around at the beach. We depart onward the next day
Today we break our journey. This is the 8th day since we started this journey. By now we are all meshed up and soaking through and through with adrenalin and adventure.
We would have navigated class 6- class 3 rapids , capmed at inaccessible gorges and set up camps. We deserve a day off

After a comfortable camping experience, we shall begin another adventurous day with a big rapid below the Alubadi beach.
Good bye Paradise , hello Geku!
We begin with a big rapid below Paradise beach, called ‘Moing Madness” followed by milder ones all the way till the suspension bridge at Nubo. We raft down Karko village and float to a beautiful site near Geku.

Transfer all gear onto our travel bags from the dry bags and a chance to wash up near a freshwater spring.
After Geku, we begin a long float till the 65 Bridge at Ditte Dime. An easy day with long float sections. We pass several Adi tribal settlements on the way and float past the confluence of the Siang river with the Siyom river after the suspension bridge at Boling. We pass the flood-rutted guesthouse of Yembung and float onto camp near Rotung village, in time for hot lunch.

We negotiate the last major raft on our last float to Pasighat. As we end this epic expedition we look forward to the much needed rest and sleep at Pasighat
We begin the final run to the plains at Pasighat by negotiating the last biggie on the trip at Ponging. The Siang seems to gather a lot more volume as we float into Pasighat where we beach our rafts for the last time on this trip. Transfer to rest house at Pasighat.
