Travel notes of the day
Today is all about meet and greet. Meet your group members if you are travelling in a group, locals if you are on a solo trip.
Kohima war cemetery is a well known spot in town, ask anyone for directions if you are in doubt
Enjoy an hours drive from Kohima to Jakhama village.
The train arrives at Dimapur at 5:30 AM. Suggest you to freshen up in the train as the washrooms ( Pay & Use ) at the train station are untidy. You will find a few shops open serving tea. Realistically the place where you can thoroughly freshen up is the campsite.
We begin our trip at the war cemetery in Kohima paying our respects to the 913 brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the World War 2. After a authentic Naga meal we head out of town to Jakhama village to arrive at our camp site. Sip a hot la cha (local Tea/ Chai) while soaking in the valley views from your tents.
Head out to the village with a guide. Interact with the locals , listen to the history of the village, click photos and if you are lucky get invited to a home dinner with a local family.
Return to the camp site for a sumptuous dinner with rice beer. Stargaze at the night sky from the comfort of you tent.
