1 Mawphanlur

Simple, Minimalistic, Happy. This is Mawphanlur for you.

Mawphanlur in all has a population of about 200 souls, one can find simple cottages, kitchen area and a dining set up - a perfect example of letting nature do what it does best, mesmerise people. They have also have a few kayaks and pedal boats in one of the many ponds which surround the village ,where family, friends and even enemies can relax and chill over still waters.

If you had a lunch date, this is the place you had want to be. We drive from Mawphanlur to Nongkhnum and hike to one of three water falls which inhabit this island . Once we reach the Kshaid Weinia waterfall , we finish lunch at this surreal place and hike back through the meadows to reach our vehicles for yet another long drive ahead.

The place we are headed too after Nongkhnum was home to the Dino's, who knows one of you might just happen to meet one in spirit!

A small trek to Lew Luri Lura will start the day. According to local folklore, Lew Luri Lura which was a marketplace for animals thousands of years back, during a time when animals could speak. The depressions are believed to be footprints of the large animals.

The village is filled with serene spots in the jungle and some interesting fossils. Mawlyngbna is our favourite summer/ monsoon retreat. If you grew up in Mawlyngbna, you would never need an adventure park in your life.

Once the canyoning is over, get your kayak and relax over the still waters, then
go ziplining, and if you have energy left then dive into the waters of the Um-kha -koi.

We head off to the village of Tyrna, it is from here we start our hike to the world renowned man made wonder-Double Decker Living Root Bridges.

The hike is steep, like climbing up a sky scrapper with 100 floors , once you get to the top the view and the surroundings are as pristine and humbling. Once you reach the top catch your breathe, take a dip in the stream and relax.

From here we continue to trek to Nongriat which is our stop for the next two nights

The early bird catches the worm! We start the day at 6 am to spend quality time at the living root bridges. Once you reach the spot sit by the stream and enjoy a natural fish pedicure.

Around 8 am we further head to Rainbow Falls. We head back to the living root bridges, cool off in the pool near the living root bridges agter which we head for our homestay.

We trek back to Tyrna village to our awaiting vehicles.This will be our last trek on this trip. On reaching Cherrapunji we check in to our handpicked resort and sink in to the soft beds for a well deserved rest.

Towards the evening get dressed for a personal rock concert with the local boys. Both the boys are well accomplished music artists who have performed at The Ziro music festival
