This area is known as a biodiversity hotspot because of so many endemic species that are found here. The huge amount of rain it receives (it’s one of the wettest places in India) along with the cooler temperature makes all the flora and fauna unique to that place. Travel notes of the day
We explore the small village of Amboli. We are always delighted by the flora and fauna that we find here. Macro Photography is an added attraction in Amboli given the diversity of insect fauna including butterflies.
On reaching Amboli ,we settle in followed by orientation as well as meet and greet with fellow participants. Once this is done we take a walk into the wildernesss to acquaint ourselves with the terrain , weather and the inhabitants of the forest whom we will be meeting in the days to come

This morning we will start early , the forest is a great place to see and experience nature in its habitat. We will return to our accommodation by breakfast and rest till lunch.
Post the afternoon meal, we set out looking for butterflies and various other creatures that would make ideal subjects for macro photography. In the evening, we will scour the area for nocturnal creatures or creatures active at night, returning to the accommodation by dinner time.
The cooler nights are a great time to look for reptiles and amphibians that call Amboli home, many of them endemic to the region.
