Hello Riders, Welcome to this out of the world motorcycle expedition. This is a beautiful route with all the thrills suitable for an unforgettable ride. This a technical ride as average height of the ride will be 8,000 ft-10,000 ft along gravel , snow, slush.
The region of Spiti is remote and access is scarce due to the climate and local traditions, Owing to its terrain and less connectivity, this route sees only a few brave souls, thanks to its challenging altitude and terrain.

Spiti literally translates to - The Middle land ,divides India and Tibet. Spiti can be approached from two routes Manali and/or Shimla. However currently the road from Manali to Kaza is closed until March or April of 2022. This riding trail is from Shimla.

Please note folks travelling to Delhi need to find an accommodation for one night . We will be happy to assist you with the accommodation which fits your pocket. Alternately we will speak to fellow riders willing to accommodate non-local for a night. Either should work
Welcome to Motorcycling Basics- Spiti . The trip starts from Delhi .
Meet the Ride Leader in the evening at a predefined time for Introduction to your motorcycles, riding gears scrutiny, Safety measures and other important aspects of the tour followed by dinner.
Travel notes of the day
- Delhi to Narkanda is a distance of 400 Kms.
- Start early so you can avoid the heat. It will be hot till Kalka.
- Except heavy traffic in Kalka - this might slow the pace. Be Patient.
- Stoppage as per trail breaks discussed during orientation
We start at sunrise and aim to reach Narkanda by evening depending in traffic and weather conditions. The black top is pretty smooth almost all the trail.We might encounter slow moving traffic around Chandigarh-Shimla. The black top is flat till we reach Kandaghat. We start our first ascend into the valley's of Shimla from Kandaghat.
Once at Shimla , Narkanda is about 2 hours away. Expect to reach Narkanda by evening, around sunset.

- A distance of 170 KMs from Narkanda to Kalpa
- From Tapri to Kalpa its a single lane uphill road so expect a slow ride
- Kalpa grows the world's best apples
We begin our ride towards Kalpa post breakfast. This part of the road is a personal favourite as we ride along the banks of Sutlej river . Kalpa is well connected by good motor-able roads so expect a smooth ride, unless there are landslides, pray there's none !
When we are greeted by the majestic Kinner-Kailash peaks we know we are in Kalpa . We will stay the night at this beautiful hamlet before continuing our journey further north ✌🏽

We enter Spiti Valley today. The distance to cover this morning is 210 Km. Road conditions are mixed with the stretch from Sangla to Chitkul in a bad condition , so expect increase in ride time.

Today marks the 5 day of riding. We break for the day to spend time at Kaza.
We start our day at leisure and visit the 1000 year old key monastery. From here we ride to explore Langza village at 14,500 ft which is known its fossils. It is also the most remotest village in India. Local kids sell these fossils aged millions of years for pocket money. From Langza we ride to Komic village at 15,030 ft, the highest village in the world. Everything here is tagged as highest in the world. The last place to visit on the trail today is the world highest post office at Hikkim. Carry a few letters to post from here - may be post to yourself! Hikkim is located at an altitude of 14,400 ft. We stop by one of the cafes at Hikkim for some refreshments before we hit the road back to Kaza.
The rest of the day is at leisure , explore Kaza, speak to local folk, buy some souvenirs may be - support the local community.

Its a 170 KM ride to Kinnaur from Kaza. We will be riding parallel to the Pin Valley National park and witness pictrsque valleys and isolated roads in the region.
After a day of rest we will continue the ride towards Kinnaur. Todays ride will take us from Kaza to Kinnaur will take us approx 6-7 hours depending on traffic. Road conditions are overall good with a. few short bad patches.
Kinnaur is know for its apple orchards apart from the temples and monasteries , the Kinner Kailash range can be seen from here.

This is essentially the last day in these valleys so soak in as much as you can before the road takes us back to the Urban Jungle
We begin our return journey today, we will be travelling through the Hindustan-Tibet highway. This is perhaps the longest day on our ride timeline. We will take 8-10 hours depending on traffic and climate conditions to reach Shimla.
Once at Shimla rest , relax for the ride to New Delhi.

Be patient this day on the ride. Wear something light to avoid the heat after you exit the valleys. Expect traffic while entering the NCR region especially at Murga Mandi and onwards.
We will begin early post breakfast. 1.5 hours to 2 hours into the ride from Shimla we will begin to come across urban traffic . Our ride to Delhi will take about 8-10 hours depending on traffic conditions. One we reach Delhi by evening ,bikes will be handed over and we all meet for a farewell dinner to plan the next trip or simply relive the memories of the ride
