- People wishing to undertake this trip should have a good level of physical fitness, and previous experience of trekking to altitudes of at least 3500m .
- It is not necessary to have previous experience of technical snow and ice climbing
- Our trekking pace at altitude is dictated to a great extent by the need to acclimatise which imposes height gain limits on any day. Walking speed is further restricted by the sometimes difficult terrain. The group only moves as fast as its slowest member.
Note: This is a group tour. Minimum group size is 16 people

Travel notes of the day
The journey should usually take 12-14 hours depending on road and traffic conditions. We will get off before Manali.
Take the night bus at from ISBT Kashmiri gate. It takes 12-14 hours to reach Manali, Once in Himachal alight in Haripur in Kangra Valley. We will then pick you from Haripur and drive you towards our accommodation away from the busy streets.

Acclimation is important , helps the busy be nimble and keeps the heart rate steady
Reach Manali during early hours on day 2. Take time to relax in the morning after checking in at the accommodation. Afternoon we will go for a acclimatising hike to Lamadugh.

Enroute we will learn some basic navigation skills . We will also learn how to choose a campsite and how to set up a camp site
We depart from the comfortable confines of our accommodation, drive around 2 hours to reach Dhungi. We alight at Dhungi and start our ascent towards Bakartach which will be our base for the next few days.

By the end of the day one should be able to ascend and descend with ease , better balance and coordination.
We will train from Day 4- Day 6 .
We will spend our day on the slopes. We will practice ascending, descending techniques. Toe kicking, edging techniques on snow. Instructors will also help get the alignment and body balance right .
Day 5
We spend today on the snow slopes. Practice everything learnt yesterday. Learn arresting your falls and get introduced to basic rope work.
Day 6
On the snow slopes on day 6, we practice our leanings from yesterday and learn how to move roped up in a group and how to navigate a glacial field. We will also practice belaying and team arrest.
Day 7
In these 3 days we will move to the glacier area for some ice climbing. We will carry the lessons learnt on snow fields to this ice climb. On completion we will return to our base camp for the evening.
Day 8
Height Gain is the theme of the day. We move up the altitude and orate everything that we have learnt till today. We are back to the base camp for the night
We wind the camp site and descend to Dhundi .Our vehicles await us here and we drive back to Manali. Evening we board our bus to Delhi

- All trip leaders have appropriate wilderness first-aid training and are experienced in
- dealing with a range of medical problems associated with adventure travel.
- This being said, none of them are licensed medical professionals and can only administer
- First Aid. We carry a comprehensive First Aid Kit on all our trips that equip us to deal with
- the most common issues faced in the outdoors and at altitude.
