Goa Chitra Museum is a heritage, ethnographic museum that exhibits an array of traditional tools, implements and other artefacts, with the aim to preserve the heritage of our ancestors.
Over 200 years old, Palácio do Deão is a mansion that was built in 1787, by the Portuguese nobleman, Jose Paulo on the banks of the Kushavati river. It boasts of a majestic blend of Hindu and Portuguese style architecture and a lush, green garden that goes (arguably) unmatched in all of Goa.
The capital of South Goa, Margao is compact albeit packed with shops and market, and people of course!
The day begins with a visit to the Goa Chitra Museum, a heritage museum in the town of Benaulim.
The next stop on today's tour is Quepem, a charming, serene village in South Goa. Here, we visit the Palácio do Deão, an authentic Portuguese style mansion where we enjoy a local, home-cooked meal prepared by the hosts.
After a hearty lunch, we drive around the city of Margao for some shopping and local sightseeing.

Travel notes of the day
Old Goa, or 'Velha Goa' was actually founded by the Sultanate of Bijapur but was later taken over by the Portuguese. It is now, a small town of sorts with European-influenced architecture, with a bunch of churches, cathedrals, museums and other historical sites, and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Fontainhas, or Goa's 'Latin quarter' is a section of Panjim, Goa's capital, that has cobbled streets dotted with Portuguese style houses in bright colours and brightly painted walls.
Today calls for a tour of the charming Old Goa. After some breakfast, we set out to visit Old Goa's beautiful churches and cathedrals - the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral, St. Cajetan. Around lunch time, we visit Spice Plantation for a walk amidst nature to get some first hand insight into how spices are cultivated. Here, we enjoy a traditional, banana leaf meal under open skies.
After a hearty lunch, we head to Panjim for some sightseeing. Discover the city, and explore the colourful Fontainhas, or the old quarters - the only Portuguese quarter in all of Asia. You have the chance to look around and shop here. You can even do a spot of shopping here.
