Travel notes of the day
En route Thiklana, we visit the charming Chitai temple- dedicated to god of justice, on the outskirts of Almora .
As one approaches the temple, the first thing that strikes you is hundreds of bells hanging at the entrance. Once a wish is fulfilled people come and hang a brass bell on any of the temple walls, and hence the sea of bells all over the temple.
An interesting fact, Almora is one of the few hills stations which is not built by the British.
The walk generally takes 45 min and might be extended upto 1-2 hours depending on the pace.
Rise Up, Replenish, Lets Go!
Today we reach the village of Thikalna , before we do that we have a couple of stops to make. The Chitai Temple of Justice and Almora town.
On reaching the road head to Thikalna (2100 metres/6900 ft) we will walk through a forest path covered with oak and rhododendrons trees on both sides and stunning snow capped Himalayan views along the way.
This 45-minute easy walk will bring you to the village house. The massif of Nanda Devi East and the other Himalayan peaks of the same range will be visible from the courtyard of this house.
