Welcome to the start of a epic road trip!
Today is about acclimatization and being touristy. Some of the local sights you will be exploring today are - The famed Mughal Gardens - Nishat Bagh( also known as Garden of Pleasure - Shalimar Bagh ( Abode of Love) Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love). You might also want to complete any left-over essential shopping.
Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K is at a elevation of 5200 ft in the Jammu & Kashmir valley on the banks of river Jhelum.The city is known for its beautiful natural environment, gardens, waterfronts and houseboats.
On your arrival at Srinagar Airport, you will be received by our on ground staff . We will begin our trip towards Srinagar. Once settled at our accommodation for the day, we will have the afternoon to ourselves; Take in the local sights , visit local hotspots , indulge in local culinary. Overnight in Srinagar.

Hold on to your breath as we cross one of the highest mountain pass in the world- The Zojila at 11,575 FT . Drass Village in the Drass sector is the world's coldest inhabited place after Siberia.
We proceed for Kargil. Enroute we visit the lush green valley of Sonmarg also known as “Meadow of Gold” due to many contours of its landscape. We pass Zojila pto reach Drass Village. Enroute we visit DRAUPADI KUND, a site of where PANDAVAS had exiled during their reign. We will also have orientation about the brief history of the Kargil War by a Army Jawan ( If Available) . Before reaching Kargil witness mesmerising views of Tiger Hill and Tololing.

Do watch the spectacular moon like landscape unfold as you reach Lamarayu monastery.
For the more adventurous soul - Lamayuru is hot spot for many treks which take you in to deep secluded Himalayas. ( This is for your next trip though!)
After breakfast we leave for Leh.
En route visit Mulbek- A giant Buddha Sculpture on Rock Mountain. We pay respects to the mountain gods at the oldest monastery of Ladakh in Lamayuru.
Lunch is served at Nurla / Saspol Village with gorgeous views of the valley. These villages are perched at 9977 feet ASL
Post lunch leave for Leh, en route visit the popular Magnetic Hill and Pathar Sahib Gurudwara.

Leh is the capital of Ladakh and is the largest town in the Union territory. Leh opened it doors to tourism back in 1974 post the Sino-Indian war.
Located at a elevation of 11,482 ft. ASL, Leh is at the cross road's of old trading routes of Tibet and Xinjiang.
Popular places to visit are the - Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and Leh market for your souvenirs and some quality woolen shopping

Today we break our journey to spend time in the himalayan town - LEH.
This is a wonderful break to know the town, its culture, people, architecture and the local cuisine. It is also good opportunity to replenish personal supplies, if any and prepare for our next destination.

Today is about adventure, camping and camel rides.
Nubra Valley is situated in the North of Ladakh between KARAKORAM and LADAKH range of Himalayas. The average elevation of NUBRA valley is 10,000ft.
Be awed by the views at Khardungla- The world's highest motorable road at 18,380 ft.
Be sure to cover yourself from head to toe to avoid sand getting in to your clothes.

After an early breakfast we proceed to Nubra Valley. To reach NUBRA we cross KHARDUNGLA at 18,380 ft. The accommodation at NUBRA will be a camping experience. Once settled we leave for Hundar dunes to enjoy a double humped or a BACTRIAN camel ride along the vast cold desert at 10,000 ft. One can also experience the local folk dance in the valley.

This day is about Adventure and Culture.
Turtuk is the last indian village on the border before the LOC. This village was under Pakistan before the Indian Army captured it in 1971 . Geographically Turtuk lies in Baltistan Region.
We leave for a day trip to the village of Turtuk. The village of turtuk is inhabited by the the BALTI tribe originally from Tibet and now scattered across Gilgit–Baltistan, Ladakh and Tibet. We interact with them and learn their culture through artifacts, museums, architecture and personal interaction ( depending in availability). We head back to Nubra after the day trip to Turtuk.

Pangong Tso is popular for its changing colour ability. Its colour changes from shades of blue to green to red. It is one of the highest altitude lakes (14,270 ft) in the world that is filled with saline water even though its a Endorheic lake ( Lakes which don't flow into the sea)
After a early breakfast we leave for Pangong Tso. We spend the day and camp at the lake to wake to a never seen before sunrise and atmosphere. Pangong is a Himalayan glacial lake

The Chang La is a high mountain pass in Ladakh. It is claimed to be the third highest motor-able road in the world at 17,590 ft.
Wake up to a beautiful morning inthe higher himalayas. Enjoy your breakfast by the lake. at 14,000ft which is surreal experience. Post breakfast spend time at leisure exploring the lake.
Later we drive to Leh via Changla pass, we should be reaching leh by early evening - just in time to catch the sunset. We settle down in Leh for the day.

Hall of Fame is run by the Indian Army, this museum/war memorial houses weapons, history exhibits & a souvenir shop.
The layout of the area and surrounding slopes at MAGNETIC HILL create the optical illusion of a hill. The hill road is actually a downhill road. Objects and cars on the hill road may appear to roll uphill in defiance of gravity when they are, in fact, rolling downhill.
Keep your senses alive at LAMAYURU - check out the moon like landscape
After breakfast drive towards Kargil. Enroute visit the Magnetic Hill , and check out Sangam - the confluence of Zanskar & Indus River at nimu village, Ladakh. We then spend time in Hall of Fame and seek blessings at the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.
After lunch we visit Lamayuru Monastery where we witness moon scapes post which we drive for KARGIL crossing Fotu-la pass at 13,489 ft.

On the way to Sonmarg the road is mostly rough and wet till Zojila pass 3527 meters which is the - Gateway to Ladakh.
