Itinerary
Travel notes of the day
Did you know : Jabalpur is also known ‘the city of Marble Rocks’
This day is about water-falls, boat rides and spirituality
There are a variety of unique marble rock formations used for stone crafts and idols.
We also visit the Chausat Yogini Temple - one of the four major temples made of coarse granite and one of the largest of its kind in India. It should actually be called Ekasiti Temple , because it has 81 niches to accommodate Yogini statues instead of the usual 64 (= Chausath in Hindi ).
The word Dhuandhar is derived from two Hindi words - Dhuan (smoke) + Dhar (flow) meaning a waterfall where we get smoke-flow like feeling (this smoke is formed by water vapours or the smoke cascade).
The Dhuandhar Falls are located on Narmada River in Bhedaghat and are 30 meters high. The Narmada River, making its way through the world-famous Marble Rocks, narrows down and then plunges in a waterfall known as Dhuandhaar. The plunge, which creates a bouncing mass of mist, is so powerful that its roar is heard from a far distance.
We start our trip to Bhedaghat to witness ‘Dhuandhar Falls’ located on the Narmada River.
The roar of Dhuandhar falls can be heard from a distance as the water plunges on to the marble rock formations below. A boat ride on the Narmada amidst the marble mountains is a sight to behold or one can Opt for rope way service at Dhuandhar which offers breathtaking view of Waterfalls with river Narmada passing through deep ravine.
In evening - if time permits, checkout the special evening ‘Aarti’ on the river ‘Narmada’ in Gwarighat at 19.00 Hrs. This is to watch for its spiritual experience. Once the Aarti concludes, ‘Deep Daan’ (consisting of leaves filled with flowers and a lit Diya) floating them in the river.
Optional : Enjoy a short boat ride after the ceremony.
